Lately Canada isn’t feeling very Canadian.
A small but rapidly growing group of people are trampling on the values we hold dear.
Respect for our fellow citizens has gone out the window and been replaced with vitriol.
We’ve seen our cities descend into hot-piles of hatred. Vandalism and intimidation have become the norm. Dialogue has been replaced with destruction. And it’s only getting worse.
Venues which were safe places for diverse people and ideas have been weaponized and held hostage.
Institutions, businesses, classrooms, and places of worship have become targets.
The police refuse to take action, and our politicians are complicit in fanning the flames.
And we – a diverse group of progressive, socially-liberal, democracy respecting individuals – fear for the future of our country, and the society we will leave to our children and grandchildren if we don’t take action now.
Thankfully we're not alone. People are starting to speak out. Like the Globe & Mail Editorial Board, Rosie DiManno, Warren Kinsella. But these words are falling on deaf ears. We need action.
The people ruining our country claim to be advocating for human rights. They claim they don’t hate a specific group of people, but rather a government. They claim to be righteous and morally sound. But their actions reveal their true intent.
Let’s be honest: what we are seeing and experiencing in Canada is not legitimate protest. It is not peaceful. It is not respectful. And it is not productive.
It is terrorism. And it has no place in Canada.
When you cover your face and move around in a mob so that law enforcement can’t recognize or apprehend you... When you hurl insults and incite hatred... When you disrupt neighbourhoods, block traffic, vandalize businesses, protest at hospitals, and tell people they should die... you are not advocating for peace, you are against it.
Resistance is not justified when it infringes on another’s freedoms. And that’s exactly what these people are doing.
They are actively destroying Canada. They don’t appreciate or respect who we are, what we stand for, and why we exist. They don’t want to live by our values, they want to live by theirs. And that’s not something we will tolerate. Neither should you.
So we encourage you to join us. To take a stand for what’s right. To keep Canada a safe, welcoming place for everyone… as long as they respect us.
We are Canadians and we stand against Terrorism. Will you?
